Semester I

 

Your practical Exams will be based on the following Modules

1.       Active Directory Domain Service  (20 – 30 marks will be given according to the question)

§  Promoting the server in to a Domain Controller

§  Creating Users/Groups/Organizational units

§  Group Policy management

§  Connecting clients to the domain

2.       DHCP Server ( 10 marks )

§  Configuring a DHCP server to provide IP Addresses in a given range to the client computers

3.       PC Assemble ( 20-30 Marks will be given )

§  Students have to assemble a given PC by following the corrects steps and safety procedures

§  Complete the assemble by installing drivers and essential software

4.       ADSL Router Configuration ( 10-15 Marks will be given according to the questions)

§  Configure the WAN interface in order to connect to the internet

§  Configure the LAN interface according to the given parameters

5.       File Sharing (10 marks )

6.       Estimate ( for Full time Students ) (10-20 marks will be given according to the complexity of the Requirements for the estimate)

7.       Cable Crimping (10 marks)

 

Semester II

Your practical Exams will be based on the following Modules

1.       Configure Bind 9 DNS Server (10 – 15 Marks will be given according to the question)

§  Students should be able to Configure Bind 9 DNS Server on a Installed Ubuntu Server  

2.       Configure a mail server in Ubuntu server edition. (30 Marks)

§  Configure the post fix mail server

§  Create User accounts

§  Configure the created users into mail client applications

§  Send emails Via Command line

3.       Configure a proxy server using squid3 package (10-15 Marks will be given)

§  Add a client machine to installed proxy server to monitor the access log event if the machine

4.       Active Directory Domain Service (20 Marks)

§  Create Users and Ou s as per the given instructions

§  Provide separate Group policies for the created Ou s

§  Create Roaming profile for the given user

5.       IIS Web server (10 Marks)

§  Host a web site on the IIS server

6.       Exchange Server (15 Marks)

§  Creating Email addresses

§  successfully send and receive emails via outlook web 

§  Configure outlook client

§  Check whether SMTP, POP3 and IMAP is working properly

§  Check the email queue

Final Exam

 

1)   Prepare estimates for repairs upgrades and new installation

                                                              i.      Accept components for repairs upgrades and new installation

                                                            ii.      Diagnose faults /assess the extent of repair and /or upgrades necessary

                                                          iii.      Estimate cost of repairs/ upgrades/ new installation

2)   Perform preventive maintenance of a personal computer

                                                              i.      Carry out regular maintenance

                                                            ii.      Run diagnostic programs regularly

                                                          iii.      Advise client on proper use of the computer

3)   Assemble a personal computers to a given configuration

                                                        i.            Determine the customer’s requirements and prepare an estimate

                                                      ii.            Assemble the computer

                                                    iii.            Configure and install operating system and application software

                                                     iv.            Test and make adjustments as required

                                                       v.            Demonstrate the assembled computer to the customer and explain the method of operation

4)   Install and configure internal and external devices for existing systems

                                                              i.      Determine customer’s requirements and advice

                                                            ii.      Check compatibility of the device with the system and prepare estimates

                                                          iii.      Install and configure internal devices

                                                           iv.      Install and configure external devices

                                                             v.      Check the computer for proper operation of internal and external devices

                                                           vi.      Demonstrate the use of internal and external devices to the customer

5)   Configure Internet and E-mail

                                                        i.            Determine the customer’s requirement

                                                      ii.            Install and configure Internet and E-mail

                                                    iii.            Check computer for correct working with Internet and E-mail

                                                     iv.            Demonstrate use of internet and E-mail facilities to the customer

6)   Perform cabling, connecting and configuring of network

                                                           i.            Determine the customer’s requirements and plan network

                                                         ii.            Prepare and install cabling / wireless connections

                                                       iii.            Check computers for proper operation of the network

                                                        iv.            Demonstrate usage of network to the customer

7)   Backup data on a personal computer

                                                           i.            Select the proper storage media to suit customer’s requirements

                                                         ii.            Backup and retrieve data

                                                       iii.            Advice the customer on effects of virus on data / files already backed up 

8)      Attend to problems caused by viruses and other malicious program components

                                                              i.      Check computer operation

                                                            ii.      Install, update or replace virus guard as necessary

                                                          iii.      Attend to virus and malicious problems in the hard drive

                                                           iv.      Recheck the computer for proper operation

                                                             v.      Advise the customer importance of virus guard and regular updates

9)   Perform repairs to personal computers

                                                              i.      Diagnose faults and identify the repairs necessary

                                                            ii.      Perform repairs to rectify faults

                                                          iii.      Check computer for performance
